How to Vote in India Election and Where to check voter registration status?
India is a democratic country. In a democracy, voting is one of your prime rights. Each person has the right to vote for their preferred or favourite candidate. You can find your name in the election roll, generally known as the voter list. If your name is listed, then only you will be allowed to vote . On election date, there are stalls installed in your area to help people about voting information like name is on the list, polling booth location, candidate information, document requirements, end time, etc.

Mobile phones and any gadgets are not allowed in the polling booth. You have to carry your ID card to the verification process. The process of voting is explained below.

- Visit your pre-defined polling booth. On polling booths, the election official checks and verifies your details, like your name, photos, and ID proof you produced.
- Another polling officer put blue link on one of your finger and took your signature or register, called form 17A. You will get the confirmation slip, which you need to produce further.
- In the third step, you have to submit a slip to the next polling officer and show your ink placed finger. then he allow you to go in polling booth to vote your candidate. Where an EVM machine is available, you have to press the button in front of the candidate name and election sign or symbol. You will hear a beep once your vote is recored in EVM machines.
- If you dont like any of the candidates, you still have the option to vote for NOTA (none of the above). This button is placed last on the EVM machine.

Where to check voter registration status?
You are allowed to vote only if your name appears on Voter list (electoral roll). You have to verify your name before going to the polling booth.
- You can check your name online on official website by Logging on to https://electoralsearch.eci.gov.in
- Government publish the Voter Helpline 1950 (please add your STD code before dialling), You will get the information.
- Another easy option is sending SMS and get information via SMS. you have to SMS space to 1950 (EPIC stands for Electors Photo Identity Card also commonly known as Voter ID card). Example – If your EPIC is 12345678 then sms ECI 12345678 to 1950

What Identification should I bring to vote?
Voter need to carry any of the ID proof for voting at polling booth. List of accepted ID proof list given below.
- EPIC (Voter ID card)
- Passport
- Driving License
- Service Identity Cards with photograph issued to employees by Central/State Govt./PSUs/Public Limited Companies
- Passbooks with photograph issued by Bank/Post Office
- PAN Card
- Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR
- MNREGA Job Card (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee)
- Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour
- Pension document with photograph
- Official identity cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs
- Aadhaar Card
